Design and Build Quality

The design and build quality of the laptop is downright cool, though it depends on the user preference to.

The vivobook series laptops offers a good design overall and this laptop is no different.

The brushed metal design is no wonder the favorite choice of many, that’s why Lenovo has introduced this design in many of the vivobook models.

This laptop has a good build quality overall and can also be considered for business travelers since it is under 2kg in weight and also has a slim overall profile.

The Asus Vivobook comes equipped with an awesome HD (1366×768) display. The panel is an antiglare one helping your eyes since anti-glare doesn’t let the light to reflect off the surface, hence keeping your eyes safe even if you are using your laptop for more than 5 hours a day.

The text on this screen looks crisp, clear and the reproduction of color is also favorable to a decent category.

The only small issue we found with the display is that there might be some problems with the viewing angles but overall this is a good HD screen capable of decent performance in both business and entertainment environments.

Processor and Performance

The Asus Vivobook is powered by an Intel Core i3-7100U processor which is clocked at 2.4GHz which is good and bad both. Let me explain

A higher clock rate ensures that you are getting high performance, however the higher the clock rate, the lower the battery life. In case you are mostly strapped to a power supply then you wont need to worry, else you can always use a battery saving mode.

There is a 4GB DDR4 RAM included in the bundle which can be upgraded upto 12 GB but if you are looking for performance then we will suggest to add another 4GB DDR4 stick and see the improved performance.

If your budget allows then we would definitely recommend adding an SSD which will increase the performance from 30-40% and you would feel it in day to day tasks.

There is a 2GB Nvidia 920MX graphic card included in this laptop which though is considered an entry level gaming graphic card but is really a good one at that.

As for connectivity it comes with both HDMI and VGA connection options. Apart from that there is also the standard Wifi support with bluetooth as optional.

It also houses two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 Type-C port, HDMI port as mentioned above and an Ethernet port.

Battery Life

Asus mentions something about SuperBatt battery which offers upto 700 charge cycles which is a good addition. The standard battery life is of 5 hours on this laptop.

There is a mention of fast charging which lets you charge up the device in just half the time compared to normal charger.

  • 7th Gen Core i3 Processor
  • Nvidia 920MX graphic card

  • Endless OS, which is not bad but if you are windows user, you may not like it

Our Verdict

Asus Vivobook series are well known for its design and build quality. The lightweight design and slim outlook offers a perfect combination for travelers and business users alike.

If you could add additional 4GB RAM and an SSD, we are confident that the performance will be at par with even the Core i5 laptops in the series.

With some of the great features like Type-C USB, Fast Charging and sonic master audio included in this laptop we would say this is one of the best laptops to buy if you have the budget of Rs. 35,000 less.
